What is

Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic treatments are primarily applied to the spinal region, not just the back and neck areas. While we can quickly and effectively eliminate back and neck pain, our purpose and objective is to restore and optimize your health for feeling fit and energetic, no matter what stage of life you are in!

Practically speaking, chiropractors are primarily concerned with locating and treating vertebral subluxations. A vertebral subluxation is a complex of functional and/or structural and/or pathological articular (joint) changes that compromise neural integrity and may influence organ system function and general health.

Chiropractors use many specialized techniques to identify and treat these spinal abnormalities and optimize overall health. In addition to spinal adjustive techniques, soft tissue techniques such as massage, dietary and nutritional counseling, physical therapies, and lifestyle modification programs are commonly employed.

What is a

NUCCA Chiropractic Adjustment?

NUCCA is an acronym for the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association. The upper cervical part of your body is the joint that is formed by the head and the first two bones in the neck underneath your skull.

NUCCA spinal corrections are only carried out by doctors who are members of the NUCCA organization. NUCCA chiropractic care is very different from traditional chiropractic adjustments as NUCCA corrections are very gentle, specific, and long lasting. Additionally, they require no harsh twisting, popping, or cracking of the spinal joints. NUCCA corrections result in a careful and gentle whole body realignment of the weight bearing joints in your body from the head and neck, to the low back and hips, down your knees and ankles.

How Can NUCCA Chiropractic

Realign my Spine?

Why is your spine out of alignment? How can your joints become out of place if you exercise and take care of your body?
Repeated use of the same joint, accidents, falls, and injuries loosen the connective tissue that holds the spine in alignment. As a result, your body is now twisting in an unnatural fashion that creates abnormal wear and tear on the body framework. In addition to the specific joint that is affected, every weight bearing joint from the head down through to the hips knees and ankles will attempt to compensate for this imbalance, creating further trauma to your body.

Since each patient has their unique body shape, this results in each individual having idiomatic spinal issues that need our exclusive attention. Therefore, we must diagnose and develop a particular course of care for each client. NUCCA adjustments and care is a progressive process in which each treatment builds on the previous procedure with optimal results for our patients.

We base our recommendations from our experience with thousands of different skeletal problems that arise from a variety of lifestyles. Additionally, we pride ourselves in staying on the forefront of NUCCA Chiropractic care and training to offer the safest, gentlest, and medically advanced treatments for each unique situation.

Can a person who had back surgery see a NUCCA chiropractor?
More than half of those who have had spinal surgery discover a return of their original symptoms and are challenged with the difficult decision of additional surgery. Known as “failed back surgery syndrome,” our office sees these chronic, recurring, and often painful, cases daily.

Many of our clients have used our method of NUCCA Chiropractic Care to prevent repeated or multiple back surgeries. Additionally, our patients have also come to our practice for spinal care. They have decided to forgo their scheduled back surgery.

Because of the very gentle, specific nature of the adjustment, NUCCA care is perfectly safe for patients that have undergone one or multiple surgeries at any location in the spine.

Can’t I make NUCCA adjustments to myself?
Since a NUCCA adjustment is a force applied in a direction to your joints, there is a large margin of error for an untrained individual to be able to adjust your own body successfully. Safe NUCCA care delivers years of high-level training and experience. Therefore, we would highly advise against modifying your own body with chiropractic procedures.

When you turn, bend or twist in a specific way, you may hear a “popping” sound from adjusting your body. However, this type of joint manipulation is not a particular modality and can be counterproductive to your joint health. Depending on how the adjustment is carried out, popping and cracking can make an unstable spine more insecure. Only a licensed and skilled NUCCA practitioner should perform corrections to the spine.

How can I tell if I have a spinal misalignment?
A spinal misalignment is similar to a dental cavity—you may have it for a long time before symptoms appear. Periodic spinal checkups can find a spinal misalignment. They should be scheduled regularly to see these issues before they become a problem. Although it may be possible to know you have a misalignment, you cannot be sure that this is the case without a trained and knowledgeable NUCCA doctor to diagnose your specific pain and skeletal problems correctly. Make sure to receive regular spinal check-ups available to you to promote your good health from the inside out.

When do children need NUCCA chiropractic care?

Significant spinal trauma can occur at birth, which is why parents have their newborns checked for vertebral subluxation. We carefully and gently adjust your child’s spine with our NUCCA Chiropractic adjustments and procedures.

Many childhood health complaints can be traced to the spine. Our parents report that their children enjoy their chiropractic adjustments and feel that they are healthier than their peers who do not have adjustments. Health problems that emerge in adulthood could often be prevented by having your children’s spine checked by a NUCCA chiropractor early in life to treat the issue before it becomes chronic.

Does NUCCA chiropractic work for all types of health problems?
Chiropractic care is successful with a wide variety of health problems in addition to back and spinal issues. However, NUCCA chiropractic care, like all other medical care processes and treatment, cannot create a positive outcome for all health-related problems. However, with improved nerve system function and optimal nerve connections, the body’s natural healing capacity can improve a variety of health problems.

How does NUCCA chiropractic work?
NUCCA chiropractic works by restoring your body’s inborn ability to be healthy. When your nervous system can work efficiently, cells, tissues, and organs of your body work together efficiently. Your entire system is designed to resist disease and ill health. Therefore, the NUCCA chiropractic approach to better health is to locate and remove any interference (misaligned vertebrae, aka subluxations) to your nervous system.

An improved spinal alignment is accompanied by improved nervous system function. The goal of the chiropractor is to remove interference that may be impairing normal health through specific chiropractic adjustments, allowing your body to heal itself. A healthy spine and lifestyle are your two main components to optimal daily health!

I have a government insurance plan such as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, or another government insurance. Can I use the promotional offer along with my plan insurance payment?
Many patients have coverage for chiropractic treatment through their government insurance; however, we’re not able to extend the promotional offer for an evaluation to patients with any government insurance. We encourage setting up a complimentary appointment, at no charge to you, to find out for yourself what we can offer to increase your health and vitality.

I already workout and eat healthy. Do I still need chiropractic care?
Diet and exercise are two critical elements of good health; however, your spine also plays an integral role in many areas of your body. Without a healthy spine, your body’s systems may be functioning at less than optimal levels. If you have improperly-working spinal joints or diminished spinal function, a physical workout merely puts additional wear and tear onto these joints. Having regular NUCCA adjustments will align your skeletal system to reduce the damage to your body when you are exercising.

Is NUCCA chiropractic care addictive?
Although it is possible to get used to feeling more balanced, less stressed, and more energetic as a result of regular chiropractic care, chiropractic care is not addictive.

^ back to all questions

What is a NUCCA correction?
A NUCCA correction is a chiropractic adjustment that uses a specific, very gentle force in a precise direction, applied to the top joint in the spine. The purpose of this safe and natural procedure is to realign the entire body’s frame, eliminate interference to the nervous system, and improve spinal function and overall health.

^ back to all questions

What is NUCCA chiropractic care?
NUCCA Chiropractic care is based on a simple but powerful premise: Using natural methods of healthcare that focus on treating the causes of physical problems rather than treating symptoms. Your spine is the lifeline of your nervous system. Therefore, a normally functioning spine gives your body the ability to heal itself more effectively.

What is the difference between a chiropractor and an osteopath?
Chiropractors base their care on the detection, correction, and prevention of vertebral subluxations and other spinal misalignments. We use specific spinal adjustments to correct the spine, improve nerve system functions, and reduce nerve interference. Osteopaths use drugs, surgery, and joint manipulation for proper blood flow as their primary source of patient care.

What type of education do NUCCA doctors receive?
NUCCA education and medical education are similar in many respects, with the most significant difference that chiropractors do not prescribe drugs or perform surgery. Additionally, medical doctors do not correct spinal misalignments.

After graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree, each candidate passes a challenging four-part National Board Examination. When you have passed your examinations, the candidate applies to a governmental or professional licensing board and must pass another difficult test before being granted the license and privilege to practice.

Many NUCCA doctors complete extensive and comprehensive postgraduate instruction for license renewal and stay current on the latest research, and healing techniques. The NUCCA certification process is the most intensive technique program in the entire profession, taking several years to complete.

^ back to all questions

Why do NUCCA doctors take x-rays?
NUCCA doctors take X-rays to reveal the internal structure and alignment of the spine. We are also concerned about underlying disease processes and disorders of the spine, such as spinal deterioration, arthritis of the spine, abnormal development, bone spurs, disc disorders, tumors, and spinal curvature. Additionally, x-rays provide a blueprint for correcting the spine back to optimal health and alignment so that the doctor understands the current condition of your spine; and therefore determines the best path of treatment to get you back on the road to health!
